STUDIO FORS

For this architecture competition, the objective was to create a memorial in a decommissioned nuclear weapon testing site.

In response to the global silence surrounding the issue of nuclear weapons, this project submits a design with no description text. The architectural ideas were communicated strictly with visuals. The aim of this project was to design a structure in which the architecture would do all the talking.

*Yucca Flat - The heaviest used test area in the NTS, used first for atmospheric, tower, balloon and crater tests, later for bore-hole tests. The latter are responsible for the large number of subsidence craters for which the area is known.
